Prom Makeup Ideas!

So we know the all important thing for prom is obviously the dress, but prom is a perfect time to get all glammed up in every way and of course you want your makeup to be ‘on point’ too! Sometimes contrasting colours are exactly what you need to make your eyes pop, or maybe you’re looking for something to make your look a little more subtle?

We have put together a selection of ideas of different makeup options that we think are great for prom:

Of course, you could stick with what you know. This brown and gold well-bended smokey look is so easy to do, you could even have a go at doing it yourself at home, you’ll be kicking yourself for not learning how to do it sooner! The trick is to blend well, and you’ll need a big and fluffy blending brush for that – a good one, from a reputable brand. Such a soft but beautiful style which will you give that perfect glamorous prom look!

Rose gold has been very popular this year for jewellery and even shoes, so why not have it on your eyes too! For a subtle look sweep the rich colour over your lids, and accent with a lighter colour, white or cream, in the corners to brighten your eyes. If you are looking for a more dramatic look, smoke out the rosey colour with a darker shade in the creases, and line with a dark pencil for a dramatic look.

You can’t go wrong with a classic black and silver smokey eye look. The smokey eye look is perfect for any occasion, so you couldn’t expect to see a list of beautiful makeup ideas for prom without seeing at least one classic smokey look on there… right? Once again we’re paying attention to detail, making sure your eyeliner flicks are as “on fleek” as possible. Perfect if you want to make your eyes pop for prom!

If you fancy something a little different for your makeup for prom, you could try a beautiful pink smokey eye! For a subtle look sweep the darker pink colour over your lids, and accent with a lighter shade in the corners to brighten your eyes. If you are looking for a more dramatic look, smoke out the pink with a darker shade in the creases, and line with a dark pencil and add some big lashes for a dramatic look.

On the same theme as the pink, lilac is also a gorgeous option, especially for enhancing a hazel or green eye as the colours contrast beautifully. This look is great for a girly, feminine look and would bring out pink or purple colours in a prom dress. For this look try a light purple on the inner corners of your eyes, and smoke out your crease with a dark lilac, and bring in a little grey for an edgier look. This look would be gorgeous with or without liner!

There is no right or wrong when it comes to makeup! The makeup trends are so diverse at the moment and so, you can pretty much get away with anything!

We think it is important that you make sure that your makeup goes well with your dress. If your dress is very heavily beaded or detailed, you could maybe go for a more subtle look so you don’t look like you have gone to ‘OTT’, or if your dress is slightly more simple you could go even more glam with your makeup!

We do say it is important to always have a makeup trial before your actual prom day so you are fully prepared and know exactly what kind of look you want and what kind of makeup styles you do/don’t like!
